MEMC Electronic Materials Inc. (NYSE: WFR) blamed plunging sales for swinging to a third quarter loss of 29 cents per share compared with income of 80 cents per share in the year ago period. Shares of the silicon wafer maker dropped $1.56 to close at $13.87.
