VIX-futures note gets a good whiff of fear

An exchange-traded note that tracks futures contracts based on the CBOE Volatility Index has lived up to its reputation this week for providing insurance against market pullbacks, although the ETN hasn't vaulted as much as the so-called spot VIX.
