The World's First C to C Cross Border Social Commerce Platform Starts on December 7th

US users can search 100 million items of Rakuten and Yahoo! Japan auction in English and buy directly from Japanese friends in the mashed up social networking community

j-Grab Inc (Delaware), the C to C cross boarder social commerce platform provider has launched a service that enables all the English speaking users in more than 80 countries to buy Japanese items sold in the Japanese e-commerce market of US$100 billion growing at more than 10% annually.

Currently, when US users buy items from Japan for example, there are many pain points (difficult to search, expensive, troublesome and a limited selection) without j-Grab. With j-Grab, its social commerce platform solves these pain points (searchable in English, cheap, fun and a wide variety of selection).

US users can search 100 million items listed on Rakuten and Yahoo! Japan auction in English on j-Grab.com. US Twitter/Facebook/j-Grab users and Japanese Twitter/Facebook/j-Grab/Mixi* users can communicate in English and Japanese respectively by j-Grab's Social Bridge and Automatic Translation functions. US users can buy directly from Japanese friends or j-Grab and receive items shipped by them.
*Mixi ID service will be provided after January of 2011

This groundbreaking social commerce platform gets rid of not only barriers of boarders and languages' but also 'barriers of existing e-commerce and social networking platforms.' j-Grab will start with transactions from US to Japan, reverse a direction and deploy to other countries and languages. The platform consists of the following three functions and the system of dealing with risks of international transactions.

(1) Social Bridge function
Currently there's a big segregation between social networking platforms especially across boarders. For example, users in a community with same interests in one platform cannot communicate with the ones in another platform. j-Grab mashes up several social networking platforms together and enables users to enjoy communications and C to C transactions beyond barriers of borders and languages.

(2) Market Place function
j-Grab has already enabled English speaking users to search 100 million items listed on Rakuten and Yahoo! Japan auction in English, identify local shippers and buy the items directly from shippers. j-Grab is willing to increase a number of partners and items for users' better experience.

(3) Automatic Translation function
To get rid of language barrier, j-Grab not only uses several translation
APIs but also develops its own dictionary of words and phrases that are
used frequently for ecommerce transactions. In future, j-Grab plans to
deploy a Wikipedia style to keep revising incorrect translation.

(4) System of dealing with risks of international transactions
- No-collection risks for shippers:
An escrow system of PayPal will be applied. A buyer's payment will be held in a shipper's PayPal account until a shipper ships an item and enters its tracking number.
- No-delivery risks for buyers:
A recompense option of PayPal will be applied.
- Lost and damage risks during shipment:
A recompense option of Japan Post will be applied.
- Feedback system:
j-Grab has its own feedback system where users can identify credible partners and leave feedback after transactions.
- Mutual evaluation effects of social networking communities:
Users would have data points to evaluate other users far more on j-Grab than on a standard e-commerce platform (a number of friends, a profile, comments etc). Users' intention to build and maintain their credibility would improve manner and behavior in general.
