Graham's Foundation and CaringBridge Partner to Help Parents of Micro-Preemies Avoid Isolation

Free web sites from CaringBridge give parents of micro-preemies a virtual outlet with which to stay connected to their support networks.

Graham’s Foundation recently announced that it has partnered with CaringBridge to provide parents of micro-preemie infants being treated in the NICU with free web sites that make sharing updates with loved ones simple. With a CaringBridge web site, parents can post photos, journal entries, and links to educational resources, and their friends and family can post comfort and encouragement in a personal guestbook.

"Being able to share the micro-preemie journey with the people who care about you makes the journey easier, but staying in touch when you're juggling NICU visits and your daily responsibilities is almost impossible," said Nick Hall, who founded Graham's Foundation with his wife Jennifer to address the emotional and physical needs of the mothers and fathers of micro-preemies. "A CaringBridge web site offers parents of micro-preemies a private online space to help the people in their lives understand the challenges, joys, and heartaches of caring for a baby born far too early."

Every year 50,000 micro-preemie babies - those weighing less than 3 pounds and delivered at less than 29 weeks gestation - are born in the United States. These babies often require intensive medical care for months, and their parents find themselves dealing with intense emotions and practical issues that are difficult to overcome. Partnering with CaringBridge is one more way for Graham's Foundation to help the parents of these special infants to survive and, eventually, to thrive.
