Ebook Thriller Features Polygamist Serial Killer

Someone is killing young women at random along Interstate 40, and all the FBI has is a tenuous profile-a religious zealot bent on ritualistic sacrifice.

Smashwords ebooks has distributed a new novel by Daniel Koehler to the major ebook channels.

The Sleeping Cab focuses on the darker side of polygamy through the eyes of a radical polygamist trucker, whose strict religion impels him to sacrifice prostitutes along Interstate 40 in order to save their souls.

The Sleeping Cab is a well-written, gritty book-and after you read it, you may wake up screaming when an eighteen-wheeler roars past.

Dusty Richards , two-time Spur award-winning Western author of Comanche Moon and The Horse-Creek Incident

Synopsis. To FBI senior agent, JOE MAC ADAMS, the "Atonement Killer" is a psychopath who scrawls the word across his victim’s torsos in their own blood. However, to troubled rookie cop, JOLENE DYKES, the killer is a routine hooker/john sting gone terribly wrong.

Polygamist trucker, NARVEL LAFFERTY, is given a mission by his cult’s prophet to save fifty souls. However, when his efforts fail to persuade his marks to convert voluntarily-either by baptism or marriage into his communal family, Narvel turns to “blood atonement,” an obscure cult doctrine whereby the souls of grievous sinners may be saved by spilling their blood and then baptizing their corpses.

Held prisoner in Narvel’s sleeping cab, Jolene is beaten and raped, but her police self-defense skills ultimately allow her to escape. Put on medical leave to recover from her rape and head wounds, Jolene becomes the FBI's first eyewitness in the Atonement Killer case, although she soon begins to exhibit increasingly irrational, aggressive behavior.

Frustrated by the FBI's plodding slowness in pursuing the Atonement Killer, Jolene obsessively pursues him across Interstate 40, weaving together the clues to his identity with the aid of her alcoholic cop/boyfriend. Together, they trap the killer ahead of the FBI at the famous Cadillac Ranch in Amarillo, Texas, and there Jolene battles for both her life and her soul.
