Three New Tenants Open in Master-Planned Community Retail Center in Chula Vista


Shea Properties announced today the opening of three new tenants in the Marketplace at Windingwalk, the retail center that serves a growing area of 2,300 residences in the master-planned community of Windingwalk in Chula Vista, Calif.

The 104,206-square-foot retail center, anchored by a Vons Grocery store and boasting a variety of dining, shopping and service options, added a new Mark & Mimi Children’s Shoes, Pediatrics in Paradise and Serene Hair and Nails, officials said.

Marc and Mimi - A Kid’s Shoe Boutique

Marc and Mimi - A Kid’s Shoe Boutique selected Windingwalk for its first store because of the bustling family activity at the center, including a pediatrician’s office and a martial arts studio, among other businesses that attract families and children, co-owner Markee Lashley says.

“We’re trying to build lasting relationships with our customers,” Lashley says. “A child’s foot grows every 2½ to 3 months, and we want to be there for them throughout.”

Packed with top-name children’s shoe brands with prices in the middle range, Marc and Mimi held its grand opening Nov. 13. Visitors crowded into the 1,290-square-foot space to check out the store’s collections of fashionable and functional shoes.

Popular brands sold at Marc and Mimi include Puma, See Kai Run, Geox, Crocs, Tsukihoshi, Pedi Peds, Lelli Kelly, Lacoste, Kenneth Cole, Reef - and many more. Marc and Mimi offers sizes from newborn to men’s size 8 and girls size 6.

Pediatrics in Paradise

Pediatrics in Paradise opened its 2,000-square-foot, state-of-the-art medical office in August, making it the second location after its original, 15-year-old practice in National City.

Dr. Blanca Fresno and her partner are certified by the American Board of Pediatrics and have been in practice for almost 20 years.

“Windingwalk is a young, thriving community where families are moving to raise their children,” Fresno says. “There are no other pediatric offices in this area, and we know we can provide these children with excellent medical care.

Much more than a nail salon, Serene Hair and Nails offers hair treatments and facials. Owner Jimmy Luu opened the salon at Windingwalk in April after launching other successful salons in south Los Angeles and El Monte.

The new Serene Hair and Nails totals 1,031 square feet.
