US SMALL/MIDCAPS-Stocks tumble for the week but selling eases

NEW YORK, Jan 21 (Reuters) - Mid- and smallcap stocks closed their worst week in months on Friday but the heavy selling seen earlier in the week eased as lower prices attracted some investors.
