The Voice of Gen-Y Investigates Career Options at ShowBiz Expo

New Media Producer/Host, Britt Hysen, embeds her curious ‘Discover Your Voice’ crew into the command center of the Entertainment Industry at ShowBiz Expo LA 2011 in search of unique career opportunities for fellow Gen-Y’ers.


Mad Men actress turned Independent Web Producer, Britt Hysen, has created her second web series for Gen-Y appropriately titled 'Discover Your Voice'. The opinionated and exploratory show enables dynamic conversation for audiences under 30 through a variety of topics that include current events, lifestyle, and technology. All too familiar with the production industry, Hysen understands the multitude of people it takes to make a movie or TV show and how often these vital and silent warriors go unnoticed, so the decision to tape her revolutionary webisode at ShowBiz Expo in Los Angeles on May 7th was an obvious choice.

Launching the show from the floors of the LA Convention Center, the first segment of 'Discover Your Voice' focuses on the lesser known careers of the Entertainment Industry. “Most of the professions that make up the TV and film business aren’t glamorous like producers, directors, and actors and therefore are practically unknown by my peers,” she declares. “I think ShowBiz Expo will be a great way to uncover all the possible career options for young filmmakers trying to break into the business.”

Empowered by her generation, Hysen makes it a point to have a predominantly under 30 crew accompany any 'Discover Your Voice' production to showcase the talent that comes from the youth of today. “My generation needs to look beyond the box and realize something they might not have known exists. The power is in all of us; it just takes exposure to find our potential and an outlet to discover our voice.”

ShowBiz Expo is the largest entertainment business tradeshow and networking event held annually in both Los Angeles and New York City, bringing together between 8,000-10,000 professionals from the Film, Video, TV, Theatre, Fashion, and Live Events industries.
