Higher Close As Greece Adopts New Austerity Measures

The markets closed higher with the Dow climbing 72 points to 12,261 after the Greek Parliament adopted new austerity measures. Nasdaq gained 11 points to 2740.

On the upside

Shares of HomeAway (Nasdaq: AWAY) surged in its market debut.

The Federal Reserve unveiled new debit card fee caps that were higher than expected which lifted shares of Visa (NYSE: V).

Credit Suisse initiated coverage of Renren (NYSE: RENN) with an Outperform rating and a price target of $9.20.

On the downside

Mircrosoft (Nasdaq: MSFT) signed a patent agreement to receive royalties from Velocity Micro for Android-based devices but the stock price fell.

Shares of Altria Group (NYSE: MO) continued falling after the Supreme Court yesterday allowed a settlement to stand that requires tobacco companies to pay for an anti-smoking campaign in Louisiana.

China Automotive Systems (Nasdaq: CAAS) reversed year ago losses to post a profit for the fourth quarter but the stock price fell.

In the broad market, advancing issues outpaced decliners by a margin of nearly 5 to 2 on the NYSE and by more than 10 to 9 on Nasdaq. The Russell 2000 which tracks small cap stocks added 2 points to 819.
