Blue-Emu pain relief products, from NFI Consumer Products, is honored to announce its title sponsorship of the 13th Annual Jerome Davis PBR Invitational rodeo event September 2-3. The event is one of PBR’s longest standing events and is held at the Davis family ranch Archdale, N.C. Riders & participants flock to the event out of camaraderie and respect for the legendary rider and to see the best bull riders and champion bulls. Davis rode his first bull at age eleven and went professional with the Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association after his freshman year of college in 1992. In 1995 he won the PRCA World Bull Riding Championship. Three years later he was leading in the PBR when tragedy struck. During his first-round ride of the Tuff Hedeman Championship Challenge in Fort Worth, Texas, Davis was jerked down knocking heads with a bull and sending him to the ground head first. The impact with the ground shattered vertebrae at the base of his neck leaving him paralyzed from the chest down. Although severely injured, Davis kept a positive and inspirational attitude. The PBR awarded him with the prestigious “Ring of Honor” during the 1998 PBR Finals, recognizing his uplifting attitude. The “Ring of Honor” is awarded annually to cowboys credited with helping make bull riding what it is today & as a reward for their dedication and support of professional bull riding. The tradition began in 1996 by the PBR Board of Directors who wished to recognize these unique individuals who have been ambassadors & role models to the sport.

Presently, Jerome Davis continues to contribute to the bull riding circuit. He is a stock contractor with some of the toughest bulls in the PBR, he makes personal appearances, and hosts the invitational every August. NFI chairman Richard Guy says everyone at Blue-Emu is humbled to title sponsor this event alongside the legendary and inspirational bull riding hero.
