In 2010, Jenkins had the highest marked ride of the season with a score of 94 points on the notorious bull, Voodoo Child. Plagued by injuries during the second half of the season, Jenkins had surgery on his free hand in August and finished in a cast. During the 2006 season, Jenkins was honored by former New Mexico governor Bill Richardson with “LJ Jenkins Day” celebrated on November 22nd. Jenkins went on to win the World Finals for that season with nearly $300,000 in winnings. This year he’s already had two rides that scored over 90 at events where he placed first; one at the Seattle Invitational & the other at PBR BFTS Ty Murray Invitational in Albuquerque, N.M. He’s currently ranked in the top 10 of the PRCA bull riders.

Originally started as a side hobby, Jenkins currently breeds cows and bulls. “While I’m healthy and riding and making money now is when I’m going to start building my herd,” he says. “Whenever I retire or get hurt bad enough to where I can’t ride no more, I can sit out there and look at 100 head and calves every year.”
