Hitachi Data Systems Adds Powerful New Features to Hitachi IT Operations Director

Hitachi Data Systems Corporation, a wholly owned subsidiary of Hitachi, Ltd. (NYSE:HIT) (TSE:6501), today announced enhancements to the new Hitachi IT Operations Director, the fully integrated IT lifecycle management software solution that simply and cost effectively administers security management, asset management and software distribution. New features include remote control, network access control and windows update control capabilities.

Ranked among the top ten software vendors in the world, Hitachi extends its technology leadership with Hitachi IT Operations Director by providing customers with complete management capabilities that enhance business effectiveness through efficient software deployment and increased security. The software solution delivers the information and control that businesses need to effectively manage assets and remain compliant, keep computers and confidential information secure and efficiently manage time while making the best use of limited IT resources.

IT Operations Director can dramatically increase asset management efficiency by tracking and reporting detailed information about online and offline assets. It also enhances the security of the IT environment by minimizing the threat of information disclosure and proactively identifying risks. To further strengthen the IT Operations Director security feature set, the solution now includes network access control and Windows update control. Network access control allows an administrator to block and quarantine devices when necessary and also keeps unauthorized computers and those that do not meet security policies off the network. Windows update control efficiently manages and distributes Windows patches to help keep servers and clients protected.

“Effectively managing security and assets is critical for IT organizations with limited resources,” said Frank Amato, director, Global Sales and Marketing, IT Operations Software, Hitachi Data Systems. “Tackling the ability to manage change, control and enforce policies and automate processes can be challenging in an ever changing environment. The new features of IT Operations Director will help businesses achieve new levels of control, protection and efficiency by allowing them to better manage security through network access control and Windows update control. They also save time and money using remote control to troubleshoot computer issues.”

Hitachi IT Operations Director systems management software automates tasks related to the IT infrastructure lifecycle, making it easier for organizations to flexibly and more effectively meet changes in their business and application service requirements. The addition of remote control saves organizations time and money by enabling administrators to troubleshoot and remotely repair system problems without requiring deskside visits.

Hitachi IT Operations Director can be integrated with Hitachi IT Operations Analyzer for automatic asset discovery in the data center. IT Operations Analyzer is a powerful, flexible tool for availability and performance monitoring for the data center with proactive status reporting.

Hitachi IT Operations Director is now available and can be downloaded for a 30-day free trial.
