Hitachi Communication Technologies America, Inc. Becomes Oracle PartnerNetwork Gold Level Member

Hitachi Communication Technologies America, Inc. (HCTA) today announced that HCTA has become a Gold level member in Oracle PartnerNetwork (OPN). With Gold level membership, Oracle has recognized HCTA for its commitment to establish Oracle-related knowledge and excellence by combining Hitachi’s SuperJ Applications Environment and Oracle’s embedded Java products. The combined platform offers ease of development, deployment, optimization and management of applications in an extremely broad range of industry segments, including M2M (Machine-to-Machine), embedded systems, and service provider subscriber applications.

Hitachi will demonstrate the SuperJ Applications Environment at JavaOne 2011 in San Francisco, October 2-6, 2011, in booth #5206.

“Even simple devices can now host apps - the combination of Java and Hitachi’s standards-compliant client-server architecture minimizes processing demand on end-user devices while supporting high performance through efficiency and resource sharing,” said David Foote, CTO, Hitachi Communications Technologies America. “Oracle’s embedded Java products are a fundamental building block of the SuperJ platform, and together they realize the goal of a universal ecosystem that offers multiple unifying characteristics, including 'write once, run anywhere,' 'any app, any device' and 'many apps, one device' - promoting the proliferation of applications well beyond the smart phone and tablet worlds.”

According to Geoffrey Morton, Oracle Group Vice President, Worldwide Java Sales, “Java has become ubiquitous with over 3 billion Java-enabled devices deployed. Deploying embedded Java with the Hitachi SuperJ Applications Environment can provide all the advantages of Java and the ease of deploying multiple applications side-by-side efficiently and economically.”

With its OPN Gold level status, Hitachi Communication Technologies America, Inc. receives the benefit of being able to develop specializations designed to allow their customers to grow their businesses, reach higher levels of customer retention, and create differentiation in the marketplace.

About the Hitachi SuperJ Applications Environment

The Hitachi SuperJ Applications Environment, developed in collaboration with Hitachi Solutions, Ltd., is a software ecosystem that allows embedded systems developers, applications developers, equipment manufacturers, service providers and a wide array of related constituencies to develop, deploy, optimize and manage functions and applications in a dynamic cloud-to-user environment based on a universal, OSGi-compliant platform.

The SuperJ Applications Environment is certified compliant with the OSGiTM Service Platform R4.2. SuperJ provides enhancements that promote maximum operational efficiency, lifecycle management, along with a software development kit (SDK) and other tools that prepare the target software for deployment on server and customer premises equipment (CPE), embedded systems, and M2M devices, used in multiple industries including communications, energy, telemedicine/telehealth, automotive/transportation, and consumer electronics.

The Hitachi SuperJ Applications Environment is the only commercially supported platform that includes service-provider-class products encompassing a full ecosystem. SuperJ consists of five modules, several of which can be used independently, maximizing the flexibility of SuperJ to operate with a mix of third-party-developed and Hitachi modules.

SuperJ Engine (SJE): Optimized CPE/embedded device JVM. Provides high performance, low CPE memory requirements.

SuperJ Framework (SJF): OSGi R4.2 framework, client CPE software; low CPE/embedded device memory requirements, fast app startup.

SuperJ Deployment Management System (SJDMS): OSGi management server. Manages client apps in CPE/embedded device; up to 1 million devices; meets Tier 1 service provider redundancy and security requirements.

SuperJ Management Agent (SJMA): Interface to SJDMS. Easy to use; adjustable to interop with auto discovery, authentication, provisioning and security processes of individual service provider.

SuperJ Tools (SJT): Software development kit/applications programming interface, common function library. Plug-in to industry accepted SDK (Eclipse).
