EasyDNA Reduces Its Prices for Twins DNA Testing

International DNA testing company easyDNA announced it was slashing its prices for its twins DNA testing service across its markets as a means of promoting the test and augmenting sales.


Leading international DNA testing and paternity test company easyDNA Limited has announced that it would be reducing the price on its twins DNA test across the majority of its markets. The move is aimed at encouraging more take up of the test by twins who may be curious to find out if they are actually identical or fraternal twins.

The twins DNA test, or twin Zygosity test, as it is also known, can determine whether twin siblings are identical (also known as monozygotic twins) or fraternal (also known as heterozygotic twins). A Laboratory representative has elaborated “monozygotic twins share the same DNA profile because they develop from a single zygote which later splits to form two independent embryos. When the zygote splits, each embryo gets an identical copy of DNA which means that the resulting twins will have identical DNA profiles. Fraternal twins, on the other hand, develop from two separate zygotes and therefore will have different DNA profiles for each sibling - their DNA profile are, in fact, no more similar that the profiles of siblings that are not twins”. By testing each sibling, easyDNA can conclusively tell if the tests participants are identical or not by comparing the DNA profile of each participant.

As commented by a company spokesperson, “We regularly have clients calling asking about the twin test. Most of these requests are merely for curiosity purposes to find out if they are in fact identical or fraternal. The reduction in price is therefore aimed at making it more affordable for our clients to take the test and finally find out scientifically if they are in fact identical or not!” Further to this, the spokesperson has also highlighted the fact that twins also share the same blood group and in cases of organ transplant from identical twin to identical twin, the chances of organ rejection are far lower.

The twins DNA test can be ordered directly online and a sample collection kit will be sent to the client directly at the specified address so the sample collection can be made in the comfort of one’s home. Results are normally available within 3 to 5 working days from the receipt of the samples at the laboratory.
