Mixed Open As Home Price Fall

On the upside

Shares of Arena Pharmaceuticals (Nasdaq: ARNA) continued rising after the European Medicines Agency accepted the biopharmaceutical's marketing application for the weight loss drug Lorcaserin.


On the downside


The Food and Drug Administration issued a complete response letter to MAP Pharmaceuticals (Nasdaq: MAPP) for its orally inhaled migraine treatment Levadex.


Total SA (NYSE: TOT) evacuated personnel from its Elgin, Franklin and West Franklin fields on Sunday due to a natural gas leak.

Apollo Group (Nasdaq: APOL) swung to a profit for the second quarter but the for profit educator warned of lower enrollment.

In the broad market, advancing issues barely edged out decliners by a slim margin on the NYSE while advancers were on par with decliners on Nasdaq. The Russell 2000 which tracks small cap stocks edged up a fraction to 846.
