Crown Leadership Journey (CLJ) Continues In Australia
By: PRLog
PR Log - May 13, 2012 - The Crown Worldwide Group, a worldwide leader of global mobility, relocation services, information management and fine arts and high value logistics hosted the class of 2011/2012 Crown Leadership Journey (CLJ) in Sydney, Australia.

The goal of this biennial leadership development program, launched in 2009, was to provide professional development and training over a six month period to a group of high potential Crown managers in line with the company succession planning and leadership development goals. The program is run over a six month period where participants meet together in different worldwide locations to attend intensive training workshops facilitated by the partner of Crown, Hemsley Fraser, a renowned leadership development organisation.

Similar to the prior year, the 2011/2012 CLJ program offered a variety of classroom and webinar sessions that focused on essential leadership competencies that all support the ethics and values of Crown. These competencies included strategic thinking, sharing a vision, getting results and motivating others. Program participants had the opportunity to develop problem-solving skills through a hands-on practical approach. The group members were divided into action learning project teams during the first session that took place in Long Beach, CA, in October of 2011. An important business challenge was assigned to each team to work on for the four-month period until they met again in February 2012 in Sydney, Australia to debrief and present project outcomes and recommendations to a senior leadership group from Crown.

The topics included: developing a Manager's Guide for new and promoted managers within the company to help them navigate and expedite the learning process; enhancing operational modules of Crown’s existing system; reviewing current business development processes and benchmarking external solutions for hosting marketing intelligence purpose. Several of the recommendations are now being developed further.

This unique leadership program provided the opportunity for each participant to not only be challenged, but succeed in the program and in their professional career aspirations. Subsequent to the meeting in Australia, the participants are now receiving professional, one on one coaching to enhance their management and leadership skills and to continue to excel in their career at Crown. CLJ continues its success as one of the most unique leadership programs offered by a large global company of Crown Worldwide’s size. With over 5,000 employees, the program successfully fosters talent from various areas within the corporation. It encourages leadership, teamwork, corporate values and ethical business practices among its members.

CLJ falls under the Crown University umbrella, an important learning and development entity within Crown. Currently offering over 60 online e-learning courses, webinars, workshops and new training programs, Crown University has helped Crown employees and new hires keep abreast with many important industry developments as well as developing their core skills and knowledge.

Norah Franchetti, group vice president of marketing, learning & development, stated: "In every business there is a new 'norm' and companies, leaders and staff must be the best they can to ensure they meet the challenges of the new environment and continue to be successful in their business. We have made this more than a learning intervention, but a true personal experience that the graduates will remember for the rest of their lives."
