House Prices Are Soaring In London

The latest Land Registry’s House Price Index report shows that house prices in London have risen in the last year.


The latest Land Registry’s House Price Index report shows that house prices in London rose 6.2% in the year to April to an average of £375,795. The monthly increase from March was 1.4%.

The borough with the highest annual price rise was Camden, with a movement of 11.8%. Brent had an annual change of 3% and Barnet of 7.8%

Leading economists, including the outgoing Bank of England governor Sir Mervyn King and former Chancellor Alistair Darling have warned that the Government’s ‘Help to Buy’ scheme could fuel property prices but ministers insist they are acting to boost Britain’s housing market by giving prospective homeowners easier access to mortgages and kick-starting home building with planning reforms.
