Neckmike Introduces Patented Communications Headset to the North American Powersports Market

PRLog - Oct. 16, 2013 - OLATHE, Kan. -- Neckmike AB, a leading Swedish provider of patented communications headsets for military, BASE jumpers, and fire fighters in Europe, today announced the launch of their fifth-generation headset in North America at the AIMExpo in Orlando, FL. The Neckmike headset combines a throat microphone based on military technology with noise-isolating stereo earbud speakers, which enables loud and clear communication in high noise environments.

Neckmike’s unique and patented headsets overcome the shortcomings of traditional boom microphones and helmet speakers with an elegant solution that is worn by the person and is not hardwired into a single helmet. This makes Neckmike flexible for use with or without a helmet, and versatile for many types of powersports—street bikes, dirt bikes, snowmobiles, ATVs or side-by-sides.

“Neckmike's performance, versatility and all-weather design that make it well suited for military, firefighting, and extreme sports, also make it ideal for powersports,” said Bo Franzen, CEO of Neckmike AB. “With Neckmike, riders no longer have to endure uncomfortable helmet speakers pressing against their ears, while wearing separate ear plugs for hearing protection, along with awkward boom microphones that quickly get dirty in front of the rider’s mouth.”

Neckmike’s throat microphone works better than traditional open-air microphones because it picks up speech directly from the person’s neck, and is far less affected by surrounding noise such as wind, loud exhaust, traffic, etc. Furthermore, Neckmike’s stereo earbuds include silicone eartips which block out outside sounds for ease of listening and to provide hearing protection.

“Neckmike is a revolutionary product for skydivers, BASE jumpers and wingsuit pilots,” said Barry Holubeck, professional BASE jumper, skydiver and wingsuit instructor. “With Neckmike, we are able to able to maintain uninterrupted communication as we fly in excess of 145 mph, just feet above the terrain. In the past 15 years, no other com system has approached this level of performance.”

The Neckmike headset is available in several Bluetooth® or hardwired configurations, and is compatible with most mobile phones, GPS units and MP3 players. The Neckmike M3 and M4 Bluetooth systems feature powerful, yet easy-to-use Class 1 Bluetooth transceivers which enable full-duplex intercom connections for rider-to-passenger or rider-to-rider communication at a range up to 1000m (>1/2 mile).

The M3 and M4 units are easy to operate with no complicated multiple button press sequences for the user to remember. The M3 unit can toggle between two other units, while the M4 can toggle between three other units, and is the first unit in the industry which includes a wireless handlebar remote to adjust headset volume, open and close Bluetooth intercom sessions, and answer and terminate phone calls.
