Maryland’s Largest Asian American Business Conference Taking Place this Month

Bethesda, MD  October 16, 2013 — The 7th annual Asian-American Business Conference (AABC), which will be held on Tuesday, October 29, 8:00 AM to 7:30 PM, at the Greenbelt Marriott, 6400 Ivy Lane, Greenbelt, Maryland 20770. 

The conference is jointly organized by the Governor’s Commission on Asian Pacific American Affairs, the Governor’s Commission on South Asian Affairs along with business and community leaders. The objective of the business conference is to educate minority-owned business enterprises on various topics that can help develop and grow local Asian American businesses. The AABC will also feature a legislative reception with elected officials from the state of Maryland.  This premier event is designed to facilitate networking between minority business owners, the local community and government officials.

Participants will hear from several prominent speakers, including Mr. Frank Islam, a successful IT businessman and investor, and the Honorable Patricia Loui, a member of the board of directors for Export-Import Bank.  In addition, panel discussions will include current business topics, such as succeeding in the global marketplace, minority business certification, financing options and government contracts. The AABC will also offer a trade show and a variety of ways to learn about new business opportunities.

The 2012 AABC recorded the highest attendance in event history, of which an estimated 40% of attendees were senior executives and government officials. Several hundred participants are expected to attend this year’s conference including representation by with many Maryland and international firms. AABC 2013 will begin with a pre-conference networking dinner on Monday, October 28, 2013, 6:00 PM at New Fortune Restaurant, 16515 South Frederick Avenue, Gaithersburg, Maryland.
