Laguna Beach, CA., December 23, 2013 – As the annual NCAA bowl games approach, esteemed University of Southern California (USC) celebrates an historic 125 years of athletic tradition. In 1986, Michaels’ first year on the USC Men’s Tennis Team, the Pac10 Champions played for the National Championship against Georgia with a record of 32-0 going into the finals. It wouldn’t be until age 46 that Michaels would win his first National Championship at the 2013 World Team Tennis (WTT) National Championships in the open division. The finals for the competition were held during the weekend of November 2 – 3, 2013 at the second largest tennis stadium in the world; Indian Wells Tennis Garden near Palm Springs, California. The owner of the Tennis Garden, Oracle CEO Larry Ellison, hosts the ATP Tennis Tournament BNP Paribas Open at the facilities and plans to grow the Tennis Garden into the largest stadium in the world. Michaels and his “Dreamkillers” teammates – most of whom are half his age – took the court with a vengeance sweeping all matches without loosing a single set. The team included two current ATP touring professionals, former professionals like Michaels, and former collegiate All American tennis players.
