Kohl’s Donates More Than $1.7 Million to Support the Fight Against Breast Cancer

Kohl’s Department Stores (NYSE: KSS) today announced a more than $1.7 million donation from Kohl’s and its philanthropic platform Kohl’s Cares® to the American Cancer Society and the Southeast Wisconsin Affiliate of Susan G. Komen, continuing its partnerships with both organizations.

“Kohl’s Cares is committed to the fight against breast cancer and passionate about supporting those impacted by the disease,” said Michelle Gass, Kohl’s chief customer officer. “We are thrilled to continue our strong partnerships with both the American Cancer Society and Susan G. Komen, and look forward to providing even more local women access to the resources they need for prevention, screening, diagnosis and treatment of breast cancer.”

American Cancer Society

The donation of $1 million to the American Cancer Society will help sustain the current Kohl's Breast Health for Women program, fund a breast cancer survivor health guide, and expand the Community Health Worker Program over the next year. Additionally, the funds will support Kohl’s Cares role as the local presenting sponsor for the 2014 and 2015 American Cancer Society Making Strides Against Breast Cancer walks in Milwaukee.

“Breast cancer is the most commonly diagnosed cancer among women in Wisconsin,” said Joy King, senior vice president of the American Cancer Society, Midwest Division. “Thanks to our ongoing partnership with Kohl’s Cares, the American Cancer Society will continue to help local women and their families learn ways to prevent and detect breast cancer early and find supporting services as they undergo treatment.”

Southeast Wisconsin Affiliate of Susan G. Komen

The donation of $710,000 to the Southeast Wisconsin Affiliate of Susan G. Komen will help retain the Kohl’s Conversations for the Cure program and fund the creation of Conversations on the Go and a Kohl’s Conversations for the Cure webinar over the next year. Additionally, the funds will support Kohl’s Cares role as the local presenting sponsor of the 2014 Susan G. Komen Southeast Wisconsin Race for the Cure.

“We are delighted to continue our partnership with Kohl’s Cares,” said Nikki Panico, Susan G. Komen of Southeast Wisconsin’s executive director. “Through the Kohl’s Conversations for the Cure program, we are able to engage in crucial dialogue with local women and provide them access to lifesaving breast health resources.”

Kohl’s Cares partnership with the American Cancer Society and the Southeast Wisconsin Affiliate of Susan G. Komen builds upon Kohl’s long history of charitable involvement in the communities it serves. Since 2000, Kohl’s and the Kohl’s Cares program have combined to give more than $71 million to support charitable initiatives in the metro-Milwaukee area.
