Accenture Adds New Digital Capabilities to Accenture Foundation Platform for Oracle

Accenture (NYSE:ACN) unveiled the latest version of its Accenture Foundation Platform for Oracle (AFPO), which helps clients deploy Oracle Fusion Middleware and associated Oracle products quickly and can reduce development costs and accelerate time to value.

According to research from the Accenture Technology Vision 2014, businesses are expected to support non-stop demand from customers and employees in this digital era. This means that technology architectures must shift to a model that is resilient, flexible and agile. The latest version of AFPO addresses this requirement with new capabilities that helps integrate mobility and improve customer experiences with other Oracle Applications, as well providing support for Oracle Engineered Systems through Accenture’s strategic initiative with Oracle. With greater flexibility in implementing Oracle solutions across multiple platforms, clients can experience an accelerated time to market, increased efficiency and improved customer engagements.

Tom Grimes, Global ERP Leader at General Electric, stated, “AFPO allowed GE to stand up environments for our Oracle project in less than 24 hour providing us with an ability to focus on delivering business value in a vastly accelerated fashion.”

AFPO’s framework takes a multi-channel approach and supports the end-to-end customer experience with Portal of the Future, a comprehensive reference application that creates customized engagements for customers via web, mobile, and social channels. This reference application provides insight on how customer interactions can be improved by using Oracle solutions such as Siebel Open UI, Oracle Commerce and Oracle Service Cloud (RightNow). AFPO also includes a ‘starter kit’ for Oracle Customer Experience (CX) that can provide industry-specific templates for common day-in-the-life scenarios, allowing clients to jumpstart their digital transformations.

“We’ve invested significantly in the Accenture Foundation Platform for Oracle since 2011 to help simplify and speed the installation of Oracle Fusion Middleware for our clients. To date, we’ve helped over 125 clients cut their implementation costs by up to thirty percent,” said Derek Steelberg, global managing director of Oracle business for Accenture. “Our newest version of AFPO can help clients become digital businesses by taking advantage of Oracle’s innovative mobile and customer experience technologies.”

Enhanced support for Oracle ADF Mobile allows companies using AFPO to develop mobile capabilities across multiple mobile platforms, bypassing the need to write code for each individual platform. Accenture is also introducing AFPO Mobile for custom mobile application development. This features a reusable services library containing pre-built code for common mobile application functionality (such as GPS, calendar notices and push notifications), accelerating development of applications built with Oracle ADF Mobile.

“With Accenture Foundation Platform for Oracle, Accenture leverages its extensive Oracle implementation experience in order to speed deployments for our customers in any industry,” said Suhas Uliyar, vice president, product management, Oracle. “We’re pleased to see that Accenture continues to invest in areas including mobile and customer experience, as this will increase the value it brings to our joint customers.”

The new version of AFPO also has deployment accelerators for Oracle Exalogic Elastic Cloud and Oracle Exadata Database Machine, with quick start virtual machines to help clients easily build an Oracle Fusion Middleware environment. A new “Environment as a Service” offering includes custom scripts and knowledge designed for Oracle Exalogic Elastic Cloud and Oracle Exadata, allowing for live ERP platforms to be cloned or refreshed in minutes versus weeks. The new AFPO offerings for Oracle Engineered Systems are part of Accenture’s Oracle Engineered Systems Center of Excellence. AFPO has also achieved Oracle Exalogic Optimized status, recognizing AFPO as being tested and tuned to run on Oracle Exalogic Elastic Cloud, delivering speed, scalability, and reliability to customers.

AFPO is a unique accelerator for customer-facing solutions and can offer extensive documentation, day one deliverables and quick start virtual machine images for both x86 and Oracle Engineered Systems. AFPO can be delivered either in stages or all at once as an on-site, hosted or cloud solution. Clients also have access to a skilled team of architects and engineers, reducing risk while improving project quality. The new features in AFPO are pre-integrated to work with more than 30 Oracle Fusion Middleware products, enhancing efficiency and utilization of resources.
