Trio of signings announced for Phase 1 of retail complex for Downtown Markham
PRLog - Apr. 15, 2014 - MARKHAM, Canada -- Three new retailers have been signed to The Remington Group’s first phase of development at Downtown Markham. Curry’s Artists’ Materials, Deco-IT and Thaï Express join an already impressive array of retail offerings in the culturally infused mixed-use development. “Downtown Markham will be more than a typical lifestyle centre,” affirms Chris Bratty, President, Land Developments and Investments, The Remington Group. “While we have fantastic food and entertainment options we will also have retailers that inspire the creative class. This month we welcome Curry’s, an artistic staple in the GTA, DECO-it, a popular tech accessory retailer, and Thaï Express, a modern favourite for fast, healthy food.”

DECO-it, a mobile technology concept by Moshi Mobile, is new to the Canadian market but has a devout following around the world. “We knew it was only a matter of time before mobile phones and tablets became the ‘first-screen’ and we’re excited to be a part of that change,” says Freddy Mak, co-owner and Chief Operating Officer for Moshi Mobile and DECO-it. “We’re even more excited about being in Downtown Markham and seeing how this type of urban development changes the landscape of retail and lifestyle the way mobile changed the landscape of entertainment and communication.”

Curry’s, DECO-it and Thaï Express will be part of the first half of phase one, which in addition to 170,000 SF of retail space, will include about 90,000 SF of premium office space and parking for approximately 1000 cars. Coming in the second half of phase one is a full service hotel, and two residential towers with more retail space, further cementing Downtown Markham as the pre-eminent location for dining and shopping for those living in, working in or visiting Markham and the GTA.
