She has worked for various health systems, and during the course of her career has had leadership roles, and has established a successful track record in planning, implementing and coordinating development and alumni programs, and managing staff and infrastructure. "I am a fundraising professional with expertise in development operations and grateful patient programs," she says.

As of February 2014, Sandra Campione had established an affiliation with The Fundraising Resource Group as a senior consultant, specializing in grateful patient programs and strategies. Grateful Patient Programs are generally defined as a mechanism for patients and/or their family members to express gratitude to a health care professional who has made a difference in their lives and in their health care treatment. Sandra Campione has designed and implemented successful grateful patient programs for St. Joseph Mercy Health System, the University of Michigan Health System, Mott Children's Hospital and the Keck Medical Center of the University of Southern California. Sandra Campione has also partnered with several healthcare clients across the country including the Cleveland Clinic, Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center, St. John Health Foundation, and the St. Vincent Foundation, to improve and expand their existing grateful patient programs.

The goal of The Fundraising Resource Group is to address the immediate needs of its client organizations while mapping a strategic course for future sustainability and self-reliance. Its areas of specialization include capital campaign management, fundraising training, major gift development, and feasibility studies.

While she has spent the bulk of her professional career in fundraising, Sandra Campione also has practical experience in Information Technology and in banking. She has managed computer networks, completed database conversions, and implemented new fundraising products to manage donor, patient and prospect records. These include coding, security, data entry and reporting. As part of her database management responsibilities, Sandra Campione has planned and executed prospect research, wealth screening and prospect management activities along with managing web services including content, functionality and the electronic communications process.

Sandra Campione started a career in banking not long after she got out of high school, and she stayed in it for a dozen years. She worked at Michigan National Bank from 1978 until 1990, where she was a Commercial Loan Support Specialist and a Commercial Lending Account Executive. Her duties at Michigan National included handling customer service issues, managing loan document preparation and closing, and preparing monthly production reporting.

While working at Michigan National Bank, Sandra Campione attended the American Institute of Banking, where she studied Accounting and Finance. The American Institute of Banking is a provider of education and training to the banking industry. More than 150,000 bankers participate in its programs each year. The American Institute of Banking programs include core courses in banking and business fundamentals, and in specialized topics like retail banking; commercial, consumer, and mortgage lending; and marketing and compliance.

In 2010 Sandra Campione became an Assistant Dean of Donor Relations and Operations at the Keck School of Medicine of the University of Southern California, a position she holds to this day.
