Marine Staff Sergeant Charlie Linville and The Heroes Project team are safe after Mt. Everest avalanche

A tragic avalanche occurred just above Mt. Everest's base camp on the morning of April 18. According to spokesperson for The Heroes Project, Zach Rosenfield, “All members of the team are safe. We offer our condolences to the families of everyone who was lost in the tragic events. It's a very sad day in Nepal, and our thoughts and prayers are with the families and loved ones of those lost.”

The Heroes Project team members began their journey to climb Mt. Everest on March 27 and are currently at base camp. They are assessing the situation before deciding on their next move.

About The Heroes Project

Created in 2009 by Tim Medvetz, The Heroes Project is a nonprofit organization that leads mountaineering expeditions with gravely wounded veterans, enabling them to rediscover their strength and pride by scaling the world’s most challenging summits. Medvetz used mountain climbing as a way to heal after a motorcycle accident in 2001 that nearly claimed his life. He has successfully taken wounded veterans to six of the world’s seven biggest summits. For more information on The Heroes Project, visit www.theheroesproject.org.
