Dubbed "The Right-Rockin' Rev. Sherry Cothran" in an April 2013 article featured in USAToday, former lead-songstress for Mercury Records artists The Evinrudes and now full-time pastor at West Nashville UMC will be performing in Virginia and Maryland through June 22.
PRLog - Jun. 19, 2014 - WASHINGTON, D.C. -- Sherry Cothran, pastor of West Nashville United Methodist Church (TN) and former lead singer of late-90's rock band The Evinrudes (Mercury Records), will be performing in this week at the Virginia Conference of The United Methodist Church's Annual Conference.

The Annual Conference meeting consists of over 3,000 delegates reprsenting all of the United Methodist Churches in the Virginia Annual Conference. The theme for this year's Conference is "Lord Renew Us With Your Spirit," where delegates will meet to discuss and vote on important issues concerning the church and ministry in their specific regions. Sherry will be the featured musical guest at various general sessions, plenaries, and seminars throughout the Annual Conference scheduled to be held from June 20-22, 2014.

In addition, Sherry will be the featured musical guest for morning services at Laurel Presbyterian Church in Laurel, MD (7610 Old Sandy Spring Rd., Laurel, MD 20707) on Sunday, June 22 followed by a headlining concert at Calvary United Methodist Church in Mt. Airy, MD at 6:00 p.m. EST. The Baltimore-Washington Conference of The United Methodist Church is sponsoring Sherry's evening appearance at Calvary UMC on 403 S. Main St., Mt. Airy, MD 21771.

Sherry's performances at the Virginia Annual Conference will all be held at the Hampton Roads Convention Center in Hampton, VA.

Since the 2011 undeground release of her album Sunland, a collection of songs all based on "untamed" women of The Old Testament, Cothran has been invited to share her songs - coupled with the obscure-yet-fascinating set of stories that surround them - at colleges and universities, seminaries, local theatres, and churches across the United States. Her unique blending of top-notch artistry in songwriting/performing, passion for Biblical text, and speaking/preaching delivery combine for an entertaining twist on often forgotten subjects.

You can learn more about Sherry Cothran and her various projects surrounding Sunland: Prohpets, Harlots, Witches, and Warriors - Untamed Women of The Old Testament on her website SherryCothran.com.
