Columbia Management Hires Investment Veteran William Landes as Deputy Head of Global Investment Solutions

Columbia Management announced today that veteran investment professional William Landes, Ph.D. has joined the firm in a new position as Deputy Head of Global Investment Solutions. Dr. Landes will serve in a dual role, setting the strategic direction for Columbia’s multi-asset business, including product development and client solutions, as well as working with the Investment Solutions team to deliver investment strategies to meet client goals.

Dr. Landes will drive the expansion of Columbia’s outcome-oriented investment capabilities, working in partnership with Jeff Peters, Global Head of Institutional Distribution and Business Solutions, and Jeff Knight, Global Head of Investment Solutions. In addition, Dr. Landes and the team will collaborate with Toby Nangle, Head of Multi-Asset Allocation for Threadneedle Investments. Columbia and Threadneedle form the Global Asset Management business of Ameriprise Financial.

With over 25 years of investment industry experience, Dr. Landes has held a number of senior positions at leading firms managing both traditional and alternative investments. He joins the firm from Gottex Fund Management, where he was Chief Investment Officer of Global Multi-Asset Portfolios. Previously Dr. Landes was Chief Executive Officer and Chief Investment Officer of 2100 Capital Group, a multi-strategy hedge fund and fund of hedge funds group. He began his investment industry career in 1985 at Putnam Investments and during 18 years there held various senior positions including CIO of Global Asset Allocation, Global Head of Investment Research and Portfolio Manager for US Fixed Income Mutual Funds. Dr. Landes holds a Ph.D. in Finance from the University of Cincinnati.
