The Almanda Project Seeks to Preserve the Scott Creek Conservation Park

By: Get News

Australia is one of the most lush and biologically diverse regions in the world, but there are a growing number of threats which could permanently damage Australia’s natural wealth.  The Scott Creek Conservation Park found in the Mount Lofty Ranges is one of the nation’s richest areas in terms of biodiversity, but a variety of natural intruders threaten this ecosystem.  In recent years it has become apparent that weeds like blackberry, tree heath and willow have spread to the system and are strangling the natural flora of the park.

The Almanda project is a campaign founded by noted Australian conservationist John Wamsley to eradicate these unnatural plant growths and restore Scott Creek Conservation Park to its natural state.  John Wamsley and his organization, the Friends of Scott Creek Conservation Park, have already devoted hundreds of hours of their time to removing these infestations, but they are in need of professional assistance. John Wamsley was the recipient of the “Prime Minister’s Environmentalist of the Year” in 2003 and many members of the group are award winning environmentalists, while others have devoted decades to preserving this one of a kind ecosystem. With additional manpower to spray selective herbicides, they hope to restore Scott Creek Conservation Park over the course of the next ten years.

The Almanda project is vital to maintaining the pristine beauty and biological wealth of the unique Australian ecosystem.  The critically important Scott Creek Conservation Park, which is home to many unique flora and fauna needs the intervention of concerned citizens.  That is why the Almanda project team is sponsoring a fundraising campaign on Indiegogo to raise $15,000.  Contributors will receive perks including signed certificates, annual reports, and personally guided tours of the park.  To make a financial contribution to this project or to learn more about the Almanda project, please visit https://www.indiegogo.com/projects/the-almanda-project–2.
