– Barbecan Portal Prevents Mass Shootings – Company Offers Investment Opportunity

By: PRLog
Barbecan Security Systems announced today that they will be taking equity investments from accredited investors through Fundable.com. The investments will be in the form of Convertible Notes that convert to stock ownership at the next round of funding. Initial funds will be used to develop a production worthy prototype for the patented Barbecan Portal and to establish distribution channels. The Barbecan Portal WILL NOT let an armed gunman enter a building. Period.
PRLog - Jul. 22, 2014 - SAN JOSE, Calif. -- The high-throughput Barbecan Portal revolutionizes security for public buildings. When the Barbecan Portal detects a threat, it reverses direction and the potential assailant is backed-out of the portal.  While 2nd Amendment issues are being debated, the frequency of active shooter events has continued to escalate.  To prevent mass shootings like Newtown, Columbine, and Virginia Tech, a new automated solution that prevents shooters from entering buildings is needed. And, it must support high pedestrian throughput.

In 2013 Barbecan announced their first patent and received 60,000 visitors on their website the first week. A flurry of media activity followed including TV spots on ABC and Discovery, and a live spot on Fox News. Barbecan now have 3 allowed patents and more pending in both the US and Internationally. A video showing a simulation of the Barbecan Portal in action can be seen here.
In the last 12 months, Barbecan have formed a core team including CEO and serial entrepreneur Dave Holt in addition to inventor/CTO Bob Osann.  Now, the company is offering a funding opportunity to accredited investors through Fundable.com, a proven crowd funding website.

In addition to threat sensors, Barbecan Portals have sensors to track position and movement of people walking through, matching their pace. If the pedestrian walks quickly, the portal door panels move quickly.  If they walk slowly, the portal operates slowly. It they stop, the portal stops.  Operation is completely safe, and by adapting to the pace of pedestrian traffic, Barbecan Portals can be used in numerous high traffic entrances like schools, malls, theatres, stadiums, factories, and office buildings. Portals can be stacked to offer even higher traffic rates, and direction is programmable to adjust to times when entrance or exit activity dominates.

Video animations for PCs and  MACs showing the Barbecan Portal in action can also be seen on the Barbecan website at www.Barbecan.com.  These show a constant traffic flow, however in actual usage the portal adapts to the pace of each pedestrian. Also note that the portal tops are sealed to prevent weapon passing, but have been removed from the animations for clarity.
