After the launch of MTV / CMT Artist Link pages in 2012, Star One Entertainment, a division of Star 1 Records has entered into a promotional agreement with Viacom Media Networks.
PRLog - Aug. 6, 2014 - SUNNYVALE, Calif. -- The new website located at Viacom.TV will serve as a portal for artists to showcase their music videos and interviews drawing from content licensed to Viacom Media Networks on CMT, MTV and VH1 artist pages. With close to one million artist pages hosted on Viacom music websites, there is no real focal point for discovery of new artist's videos. Platforms like YouTube and Universal/Sony's VEVO Networks distribute music videos worldwide commercially, but independent artists are often overlooked. Viacom.TV will initially focus on a dozen artists for it's beta launch giving them each a high profile page on it's website. Fans can view a featured video from each artist, read a short bio and link to Star One Entertainment's website were they can purchase music directly from the artist.
Laura Patterson, founder and CEO of Star 1 Records and Star One Entertainment saw a great opportunity for her artists to gain exposure leading to possible airplay on Viacom's Television Networks by participating in this promotion. These artists include Tony Watson, SUSA, Owen Thomas, Nick Nichols, Sophia Radisch, Luna Reklipse, Alyssa Fournier, Janey Kirk, Justin Willis, Eddy Faulkner, Carrie Haskins and New Valley Wolves.
One unique feature offered on the new Viacom.TV website is a video player in which the viewer can watch all of the artist's videos interactively. The website also links directly to CMT, MTV and VH1 artists pages where the fan can continue their musical discovery. Although this website is a small pilot project, the vision is to have more artist portals within the site sponsored by independent labels in which Viacom may draw content to feature on their networks.
