Community groups in NSW, ACT, Queensland, Northern Territory and Tasmania granted support by NRMA Insurance

PRLog - Aug. 20, 2014 - 118 organisations throughout Queensland, NSW, ACT, Northern Territory and Tasmania have been awarded a 2014 NRMA Insurance Community Grant, which supports local organisations and projects working in the areas of crime prevention, road safety, emergency readiness and response and the environment.

Overall, 156 projects around Australia received a 2014 Community Grant. Of the 118 organisations awarded a NRMA Insurance Grant, four were also nominated for the NRMA Insurance People’s Choice Award, where nominees have the chance to double or triple their funding.

Lee McDougall, NRMA Insurance Community and Sustainability Operations Manager said: “Every day, in every community, people dedicate their time and energy to making their community safer, more sustainable and better prepared to respond to emergencies and natural disasters. The Community Grants program and People’s Choice Award were designed to support this.

“We have had a fantastic response this year from community groups and are impressed with the great work each of these organisations are doing. We are excited to see how the NRMA Insurance Community Grant program and People’s Choice Award will support projects and communities throughout Australia,” Ms McDougall said.

Since the inception of the NRMA Insurance Community Grants program in 2003, over 1,550 projects have been supported nationally totalling an investment of more than $6.6 million in local communities.
