VMware User Group (VMUG) Announces 100,000-Member Milestone

VMware User Group (VMUG), an independent, customer-led organization created to maximize members’ use of VMware, announced today that it has surpassed 100,000 in global membership.

“Entering 2014, the VMUG leadership team set a goal of 100,000 global members by the end of the year,” said Mariano Maluf, VMUG president. “Today, we are pleased to announce that by always putting users at the core of our organization, we have not only reached that mark, but surpassed it.”

Launched in August 2010, VMUG quickly reached more than 50,000 members in 2011. As it continued to extend its reach, the organization increased its membership base to more than 91,000 in 2013. That same year, the organization took its growth plans a step further by increasing its number of events in Europe, which significantly fueled VMware users’ participation in member conferences, networking events and instructional and training opportunities, resulting in the record announced today.

Its more than 100,000 active members worldwide have helped VMUG grow to more than 180 local chapters in 32 countries and offer over 40 complimentary annual user conferences across the globe.

“This is a huge accomplishment for VMUG and I am personally very proud to have been part of the team that brought this organization to such high success,” said Victor Bohnert, VMUG executive director. “New programs, new events and new educational opportunities have driven our membership to record levels, and we remain committed to our mission to provide members with a high-quality membership experience and a collective, impactful voice in the virtualization space.”
