NTT Communications Highlights Expertise and Customer Growth at Capacity North America 2014

NTT Communications Corporation (NTT Com), the global data and IP services arm of Fortune Global 500 telecom leader NTT (NYSE:NTT), today announced its participation at the Capacity North America 2014 Conference taking place in San Francisco, California, September 11-12, 2014. Capacity North America is a key event for the North American wholesale telecom community and provides a platform to top players such as NTT Com to share insight on the trends and opportunities of the evolving IP transit market.

Michael Wheeler, executive vice president of NTT Communications Global IP Network at NTT America, will join industry leaders on the keynote panel “Co-Opetition – Exploring an Intelligent Evolution” on Thursday, September 11th, 9:30 a.m. local time, focusing on the challenges of creating a collaborative ecosystem that suits content and application providers as well as carriers. The panel will also discuss the effects of mergers, acquisitions and large-scale consolidations on the global wholesale landscape in North America.

“Collaboration between carriers and content providers can result in win-win opportunities for all parties involved,” says Wheeler. “Carriers come to the table with unrivalled global infrastructure and the expertise on how best to carry digital content over it, whereas content providers usually prefer to focus on customer-facing technologies,” he says. “The combination of all these resources can be mutually beneficial.”

NTT Com is one of the top two global wholesale IP providers, according to the latest published wholesale rankings by Renesys, an independent research firm. For the second year running, the company took one of the top two spots in the influential global list of leading wholesale IP players, consolidating NTT Com’s dominance of an increasingly competitive market and highlighting its resolve to continue investing in new infrastructure and technology around the world.

Commenting on this performance, Wheeler says: “NTT Com continues to grow its market share by differentiating itself on several levels. We are a global carrier that has the worldwide network scale, the expertise and the financial capability to support the growth of our customers; all must-haves in the world of IP-centric businesses.” He concludes: “We have customers that begin in North America and quickly grow their global reach, as well as many that start in Europe and Asia and expand to North and Latin America.”

NTT Com recently announced it expanded its Tier-1 Global IP Network into RagingWire Data Centers’ facilities in Ashburn, Virginia, and Sacramento, California. RagingWire is a premier carrier-neutral data center provider in the United States and an NTT Communications group company. This expansion enables NTT Com to further scale its offerings to Internet service providers (ISPs), content companies, hosting, and CDN providers in these highly strategic markets and provides RagingWire customers increased global connectivity options in these locations.

Additionally, NTT Com was shortlisted for the Capacity Global Carrier Awards 2014 in the categories Best Global, Best North American and Best Asian wholesale carrier and best European project. The awards recognize innovation, vision and excellence in the global wholesale industry.
