Silver Spring, Maryland – On September 1st, Safer Identity, LLC launched an Indiegogo crowdfunding campaign for their flagship product, ‘Credit Switch,’ a mobile app that gives users the ability to prevent anyone from applying for lines of credit, credit cards, loans, mortgages, apartments, or rentals, using your social security number.

With the swipe of a button on the Credit Switch mobile app, users can control whether or not their credit card information can be accessed by third parties. The app will also be able to notify users of identify fraud cases in their area, provide credit reports, and issue credit score warnings.
According to the Bureau of Justice Statistics’ Victims of Identity Theft report, 16.6 million U.S. residents ages 16 and older were victims of at least one incident of identity theft in 2012. Unlike other credit card fraud protection companies, Credit Switch can prevent identity fraud before it happens, rather than notify the victim afterwards. With $24.7 billion in direct and indirect losses suffered from identity theft in 2012, this app solves a major financial problem.

Now in talks with Experian to get access with their API integration software, the Safer Identity team decided it would be a good time to launch a crowdfunding campaign on Indiegogo to involve other people in their cause, secure financing to accelerate the development of the app, and reward early adopters with perks and rewards.
The campaign will run until October 31st, during which time backers of the crowdfunding campaign have the ability to choose from a variety of rewards including a personal invite to the app’s launch, discounts for premium features in the app, exclusive ‘founder badges,’ and more.
