Cited among “…the 10 best food festivals in the Nation” by USA Today, the 53rd Annual Bayfield Apple Festival is slated for the weekend of October 3 – 5 from 10 AM to 5 PM daily. As a host to hundreds of events, entertainment and vendors, an attendance of over 50,000 is expected.
While many of the vendors, some 60 + apple orchards and more, are returning to the “best festival in Wisconsin,” one of the newest vendors is anticipated to quickly become a highlight of the festival. Woodsy Wino, a wine glass charm and wine accessory company, offers a grand variety of charms and accessories, all handcrafted and surrounded by a fantastic story of the Legend of Woodsy Wino.
“Our booth itself has an air of fantasy,” commented Woodsy Wino founder, Jenn Finnell. “You can find us at the festival by looking for the Dragon’s eye!”
A most unique concept, Woodsy Wino involves not only the creation of wine accessories and wine glass charms, but also incorporates a “story” surrounding the Legend of Woodsy Wino. Set in a fantasy land filled with pixies, dragons and Princess Merlot, the storyline is presented on the Woodsy Wino website in a serial format. According to the Legend, accessories and wine charms, such as “Dragon Fire Charms”, are magically created by the legendary creatures of the Chardonnay Woods in the Kingdom of the Vine.
“We took the idea of a theme, a fantasy land, with mythical, magical creatures, and turned it into an excellent way to market our products,” stated Finnell with a grin. “Or the products became a great way to market the story. I’m not sure which came first, the chicken or the egg! Either way, it’s working.”
Featuring exclusive Woodsy Wino Applefest commemorative charms, in addition to a full line of wine charms and accessories, Finnell expects a steady flow of traffic at Bayfield.
“We’re looking forward to our first adventure at Applefest,” Finnell added. “As first-timers at such a prestigious festival, we’re excited about the experience and feel really good to be a part of it all.”
With anticipation of over 50,000 attendees, the Bayfield Apple Festival is one of the largest Fall festivals in the country. Including a kid’s carnival, complete with games and rides, a midway of over 100 arts and crafts vendors and 60 orchards and food booths, the festival is everything apples. For those more adventurous Fest-goers, many local orchards offer shuttles from the festival to the orchards for patrons to pick their own apple harvest.
