Anyone who has encountered a friend who is completely enslaved to drink or drugs has no doubt questioned whether this person really is themselves. The producers of the new film “RELApSE” ask this question, whilst adding an element of the supernatural that makes the story truly unnerving.
The film follows the story of Tess, a recovering alcoholic and drug user who is asked to test a new pharmaceutical which can permanently break her addictive behaviours. In order to fully test the drug, Tess must begin drinking once more. However, during the course of the week-long trial, Tess slowly changes, becoming someone who exhibits frightening characteristics both human and demonic.
“RELApSE” takes place in a small Welsh village, and the remote location serves to heighten the growing psychological tension. The isolation of Tess and those who are sharing her experience intensifies the horror and fear that pervades throughout the week. The shoot will take advantage of the evocative autumn light which is a feature of the isolated coastal location.
