BDO Consulting Expands Compliance Services in Washington, D.C. Metro Area

BDO Consulting, one of the nation’s leading professional services organizations, today announced the expansion of the Global Forensics practice with the addition of Julia Bailey as a Managing Director in the Washington, D.C. office. Ms. Bailey, who has held counsel and compliance leadership roles with Honeywell, BAE Systems and Northrop Grumman, has 20 years of experience developing global corporate compliance programs for Fortune 100 organizations, as well as conducting anti-corruption assessments and investigations domestically and abroad.

“In the last several years, our clients have experienced aggressive regulatory enforcement related to matters involving the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act, anti-money laundering and export controls, as well as their international equivalents,” said Carl W. Pergola, Executive Director of BDO Consulting. “Recognizing that corporate concerns regarding anti-corruption regulation and enforcement are gaining momentum, Julia’s impressive background leading global compliance programs at multinational organizations is a natural fit for expanding our Global Forensics practice.”

“Julia’s in-house corporate compliance and law firm experience make her uniquely qualified to build effective compliance programs that address our clients’ range of needs,” said Glenn Pomerantz, Partner and Global Forensics practice leader. “Her experience in anti-corruption policy and procedure design, training and education, due diligence and investigations make her a highly-valued addition to the practice.”

“BDO’s cadre of long-tenured professionals and history of respect in the marketplace drew me to the firm,” said Ms. Bailey. “With continued corporate globalization, the breadth of BDO’s expansive international footprint will serve as a key asset for helping multinational clients address cross-border anti-corruption compliance issues.”

Ms. Bailey’s compliance experience also includes designing due diligence protocols for third party relationships and developing solutions that monitor functions with high levels of compliance risk. Using Six Sigma/Lean Expert tools, she has established centers of excellence in Europe, the Middle East, Africa and Asia, as well as the Americas to centrally manage compliance processes that streamline operations, increase efficiencies and reduce cost and risk.

Prior to joining BDO, Ms. Bailey served as Assistant General Counsel, International Transactions and Compliance at Honeywell, Inc., where she managed all aspects of global anti-corruption and political compliance programs. Additionally, she served as Associate General Counsel of International and Domestic Compliance at BAE Systems, Inc. and as Special Counsel, International for Northrop Grumman Corporation. She is a licensed attorney, certified Six Sigma Black Belt and a regular speaker on a range of topics including anti-corruption, ethics and compliance, international trade and corporate political activities.

Ms. Bailey earned her B.B.A. from Southern Methodist University and M.B.A. from Georgetown University. She received her Juris Doctor from University of Arkansas Law School. In addition, she is a member of the American Bar Association, District of Columbia Bar Association, Maryland Bar Association and the National Association of Professional Women.
