Stion, Inman Solar, and Washington Gas Energy Systems Partner to Provide Low Cost, Clean Solar Energy in Georgia

Stion, a leading U.S.-based manufacturer of high efficiency thin-film solar modules and provider of photovoltaic solar solutions, announced today that it has completed supply of 3MW DC of solar modules to Inman Solar for projects around the state of Georgia.

Over the past three months, Stion and Inman Solar have partnered on three 1 MW solar projects in Ga. The partnership stemmed from Washington Gas Energy Systems’ mission to use high-quality products from an American company with an experienced project developer like Inman Solar.

“We were intrigued by a US manufactured panel and the reported higher performance by Stion. Along with Washington Gas Energy Systems’ support for the product, we decided to try these panels and compare performance to our other sites that have crystalline type panels. The coming months should tell us how they stack up,” said Dan Fossitt, President of Inman Solar.

Stion was able to offer high-quality solar modules that provide superior energy generation performance, relative to competing technologies. Stion’s industry leading warm temperature performance provides a significant energy yield advantage over crystalline silicon solar modules, especially in the warm climate of Georgia.

“Stion is proud to partner with Inman Solar and Washington Gas Energy Systems to deliver projects that provide a clean, low-cost source of electricity for Georgia residents,” said Jim McGrath, Stion Vice President of Sales for North America.

All three solar projects were made possible by the Georgia Power Advanced Solar Initiative (GPASI) and will be owned and operated by Washington Gas Energy Systems. The design consists of 1MW of Stion Elevation solar modules connected to transformerless inverters. The power plants provide clean energy harnessed from the sun and deliver economic value to the surrounding community.

"The Georgia projects represent our strategic expansion throughout the state,” said Sanjiv Mahan, COO, Washington Gas Energy Systems. “We look forward to exploring future opportunities to work with Stion and Inman Solar on renewable energy projects for municipalities, businesses and other organizations.”
