A lightweight, sturdily built snow shovel, The Ice Away has integrated lighting and heating sources. It not only moves snow, like any good snow shovel, but it also melts it and provides light while doing so.
Similar to traditional high-quality and lightweight snow shovels, The Ice Away is unique in that it is also a battery-powered tool. The shaft contains a covered battery compartment with a slide-switch with 4 settings- “off”, “light”, “heat”, and “heat & light”. When set on the “light” switch, two strips of powerful LEDs along the sides of the shovel head, are activated to lit the path and working area. Importantly, this high visibility light can be seen by approaching motorist and others. In the “heat” mode, the shovel blade heats, softening and melting the snow and ice. In the “heat & light” mode, both the light and blade-heater are activated.
Patent Pending, The Ice Away was invented by Edward Norton of Philadelphia, PA, who said, “The Ice Away can also be equipped with a container on the underside of the handle shaft to hold and dispense rock salt. One can dispense salt either prior to shoveling or after the surface has been cleared.”
