Narconon Louisiana Takes Part in Red Ribbon Week

Narconon Louisiana takes part in Red Ribbon week donning red ribbons throughout the week and by passing out drug awareness booklets to the community.

BATON ROUGE, LA, November 01, 2014 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Red Ribbon Campaign is a way for a people and communities to take a visible stand against drug by committing to a drug free lifestyle. Narconon New Life Retreat staff wore red ribbons as a symbol of this commitment and signed the Narconon Drug Free Pledge and the Red Ribbon Drug Free Pledge.

The wearing of red ribbons began as a symbol of intolerance towards the use of drugs and was created in honor of murdered Drug Enforcement Administration agent, Enrique Camarena. Enrique or Kiki, as he was known, was on assignment in Mexico City when he was abducted and killed by drug traffickers.

In addition to signing the Drug Free pledge and wearing red ribbons, Narconon staff distributed the booklet 10 Things Your Friends May Not Know About Drugs to educators, parents and their children throughout the community to increase awareness of substance abuse. There is a volume of false information concerning drugs and this booklet was written to dispel the myths. Covering such questions such as "Aren't prescription drugs ok to take?" and "Just because a person takes drugs, does that mean he or she has a drug problem?" this booklet covers some of the true and false information about alcohol, marijuana and prescription drugs.

By learning and knowing the truth about drugs, a person can make the right decision to not use them. Narconon Drug Education does just that with the goal of helping others to lead a drug free life.

Free Copies are available to anyone for their own use or for them to give to friends, classmates, associates or to pass out in the community. You may contact Narconon Louisiana staff at 225-243-5047 if you would like copies of the booklet or if you need information to help someone you know.
