Soulful Duo Shares Love for Their Home State and Country on Veteran’s Day
PRLog - Nov. 12, 2014 - BALTIMORE -- The War and Treaty, a soulful-folk music duo comprised of husband and wife team Michael Trotter and Tanya Blount, debuted their new single “Maryland” in a live Veteran’s Day performance on FOX 5 Good Day DC. The song is the first single to be released in anticipation of their upcoming CD titled The War and Treaty: Live at Blue House Studios. The duo will perform “Maryland” and preview other songs from the album on Wednesday, November 12 at the Hard Rock Cafe in Washington, DC. The event begins at 7:30 p.m. and is free to the public.
Trotter, a previous winner of the Baumholder Germany Military Idol, shared his experience as a wounded-war veteran returning to civilian life in a moving interview segment highlighting the much-needed work of Operation Second Chance. “I just love Operation Second Chance because it’s helping to raise awareness to veterans that there is help out there,” explains Trotter. “I’m a victim as well of homelessness and having financial troubles coming out of the Army. I’m just so thankful for Operation Second Chance. It touched my heart.”
Operation Second Chance is a non-profit organization committed to serving wounded, injured and ill combat veterans by providing financial assistance, as well as support programs and activities. “Since 2004, we’ve been able to help more than 4,500 individuals,” says Cindy McGrew, president and founder of Operation Second Chance. “We receive request for assistance every day. We’re not doing the job in this country to take care of our veterans like we should.”
Committed to doing more, The War and Treaty will donate 50% of all digital album sales proceeds to Operation Second Chance. “The Operation Second Chance story is our story,” shares Blount. “Going to the veteran’s hospital every week, we saw and we experience what veterans are going through. We knew that we wanted our music to mean more and do more to help our community.”
