PRLog - Nov. 21, 2014 - Sometimes it is difficult to find the right kind of holiday cottage for a family break. Families with very young children want to stay in a holiday destination that is safe, that provides the right amount of pleasure for all ages without costing a fortune and that caters for all of their everyday needs.  The web site www.family-selfcatering-cottage-holidays.co.uk aims to assist families in making good self-catering holiday choice in the UK and Ireland.

Opting for self-catering accommodation is a very good start because it keeps costs down by providing facilities for families to buy food from the supermarket and eat and drink as and when they wish in their own holiday home.

Every family has its own particular wish list and often the holiday destination is determined by the type of holiday chosen. A seaside holiday sends families looking for holiday cottages on the coast. Thankfully, the UK and Ireland are islands with long impressive coastlines and a huge choice of wonderful seaside resorts with golden sandy beaches that are perfect for children.

A country cottage holiday leaves the choice wide open because of the enormous swathes of countryside in national parks, in areas of outstanding natural beauty and everywhere else between. Britain and Ireland are in the top number of destinations for beautiful rural scenery and lots of pine lodges and family-friendly places to stay. Would the children like to stay on a farm and feed the animals?

The various tourist attractions also influence holiday decisions.  Children love theme parks and these are dotted about the country. It is understandable that people try to stay within a reasonable distance to be able to include a visit to a theme park on holiday.  Berkshire and southwest London are excellent locations for three theme parks in the area, plus offer the chance to explore London and who wouldn’t want to do that?

Making the decision about where to holiday is the initial step, the difficulty arises when trying to cater for families with children of varying ages. Ideally, holidaymakers hope to find most of the equipment they need at their holiday cottage. This could include baby-friendly items such as high chairs, stair gates, cots and bottle warmers.  Parents of older children may feel the need for a games room that would keep their children occupied in the evenings or when they are busy preparing meals.  Then there are the families who own dogs and plan to take the dog on holiday with them and therefore require dog-friendly cottages. Any family planning to go on holiday with elderly or disabled grandparents may require accommodation on one level and disabled facilities.  There are endless combinations to get to that ideal holiday cottage.

Optional facilities create another challenge. People have to decide whether the extra cost for a cottage with a swimming pool is worthwhile.  They may have to choose between a cottage with a barbecue and one with a trampoline. There could be cottages with hot tubs, soft play areas, fishing lakes, playgrounds, games rooms, cinema rooms and a host of other attractive features.

The Family Self-catering Holiday Cottages web site takes much of the effort out of the decision making and presents potential holidaymakers with clear, easy to understand options to help them towards that decision and a wonderful family summer break.
