Madison, WI - January 10, 2015 - (iNewswire)

On Thursday, January 29, “Coping with Challenging Moments” training session will be offered at the Homewood Suites Madison West.  “Coping with Challenging Moments” is designed to teach you skills to deal with challenging behaviors while caring for people with disabilities.  Respite Care Association of Wisconsin and Easter Seals of Wisconsin have partnered to provide this comprehensive half-day training that has been developed to teach you how to recognize behavior patterns, how to proactively prevent or minimize conflicts, conflict management strategies, and reconnecting after a challenging moment passes.

Leading the training session is Valerie Madsen, M.S., CTRS, the Director of Training and Program Development for Easter Seals Wisconsin.  Val has a master’s degree in Therapeutic Recreation and has worked at Easter Seals for more than ten years.  Val has been responsible for screening and training over 100 staff members annually in working with children and adults with severe disabilities and challenging behaviors.  Val has presented at numerous conferences and is a trainer for the American Red Cross, Crisis Preventions Institute and the National Veteran Caregiver Training Program.

The training opens with registration at 9:00 a.m. and will end by 2:00 p.m.  Lunch is included in the $10.00 fee for the session.

It is recommended that participants wear comfortable clothing as there will be some sessions and activities that are of an active nature and they will need to be able to move around comfortably.
