UnitedHealthcare Joins KidzExplore with Pedal Power of “Blender Bikes” to Promote Healthy, Active Lifestyles

At the 23rd annual KidzExplore Family Festival, UnitedHealthcare Community Plan of Nebraska brought pedal-powered “Blender Bikes” to encourage attendees to make their own healthy smoothie, and learn some fun and easy tips on healthy eating and the importance of an active lifestyle.

Nine stationary bikes equipped with specially installed pedal-powered smoothie blenders were available today Saturday, February 14, for kids and adults to make their own healthy smoothies. Festival attendees from across Nebraska joined by 4-H youth trained through the 4-H “Eat4-Health” partnership as well as UnitedHealthcare’s mascot Dr. Health E. Hound as kids and adults use their sweat equity to pedal the blender bikes. The bikes will also be on-site tomorrow, Sunday, February 15.

UnitedHealthcare employees and Nebraska 4-H also shared important information about calories and serving sizes, and provide tips for maintaining active lifestyles through better food choices, fitness and other hands-on learning activities.
