UPDATE 1-EU opens in-depth probe into 12.4 bln euro GE, Alstom deal

BRUSSELS, Feb 23 (Reuters) - General Electric's proposed 12.4 billion euro ($14.06 billion) takeover of Alstom's power equipment business may reduce competition, EU antitrust regulators said on Monday as they launched a full-scale investigation into the deal.
