By: PRLog
Two-day executive Forum in Dallas will look at how the Internet of Things impacts traditional business models across industry sectors, opportunities created, and how companies should position themselves now for IoT success.
PRLog - March 3, 2015 - DALLAS -- The Internet of Things (IoT) promises to usher in a new era of connectivity, communications, and productivity.  Yet companies are striving to understand how this new technology will impact established operations, markets, and customer behavior. There is optimism about potentially new revenue opportunities, yet also anxiety about how best to compete in this new ecosphere.  Examining the IoT business model for a range of industrial and consumer-facing companies is a key focus of the IoT Global Innovation Forum, April 21-22 in Dallas, TX (www.iotglobalforum.com).

In a kick-off panel session dedicated to unpacking the IoT business model, Mike Krell, Lead Internet of Things Analyst at Moor Insights & Strategy, will discuss what the Industrial IoT really is as well as solutions that provide measurable value to enterprises and consumers alike. The objective is to develop a definition and framework for Industrial IoT, outline potential problems, and explore examples of companies who are obtaining positive results in the IoT space.

“The Forum in Dallas will gather over 35 thought leaders for some probing discussion of exactly where the value of IoT is for businesses,” says Daniel Coran, editor of the Smart Grid Observer and program manager of the IoT Global Innovation Forum. “It’s a unique opportunity to evaluate the game plan and develop a success strategy going forward.”

Krell will be joined by fellow panelist Christoph Inauen, Vice President, Internet of Things at SAP, who will examine the relevance of IoT in moving from prescriptive to predictive analytics and its importance to business models and processes. Inauen will look at how companies can manage the flood of Big Data that's created by new sensors and how to potentially link the data with external sources to drive business decisions.

“These experts will explore the potential of integrating IoT services with backend systems, and the results that can have on operational aspects,” Coran notes. “IoT can play an important role in moving to predictive analytics, which is of great value to companies across business sectors.”

Other organizations that will be speaking at the IoT Global Innovation Forum include Cisco, IBM, Intel, Hewlett-Packard, Deutsche Bank, Alcatel-Lucent, Silver Spring Networks, ARM, Silicon Labs, NXP Semiconductors, Blue Pillar, EnTouch Controls, WigWag, Bayshore Networks, Schlage, iDevices, Lucid, Daintree Networks, and others.

“The schedule of presentations and discussion panels will provide great value to organizations looking to leverage the world of IoT to their advantage,” Coran adds. “It should be a very interesting gathering of thought leaders and practitioners.”
