WW I-ERA Airfield in Blue Mound Haunted by Ghost of Mass Murderer Hezekiah Jones

Eccentric Fort Worth Businessman Seeks Volunteers to Search for Killer's Ghost and Missing Workers after Sundown on Friday, March 13 and Sat, March 14

FORT WORTH, TX, March 05, 2015 /24-7PressRelease/ -- On October 31, 1883, Hezekiah Jones told patrons of McDagenville's dry goods store to make ready for the reaping. He said he would cleanse their souls. They paid him no mind, because it was past noon, and Hezekiah was known to like his whiskey.

Legend has it that before the sun set, the ignored man had hanged more than 100 of his neighbors by luring them, one-by-one, to the oaks along the Trinity River. Had not a boy slipped from the killer's grip and run for the sheriff, more surely would have died.

Not long after, a mob held the Hangman and fitted him with the bloodstained noose he had made for the boy. When the town elders returned for the body the next morning, they found only a piece of frayed rope dangling from a half-rotted limb.

Some say Jones' kinfolk cut him down and secretly buried him at Oakwood. Others believe the hooded Hangman still wanders the night in search of impure souls.

"Hell, yeah, the Hangman or his ghost is still out there," says eccentric Fort Worth salvage yard owner Allen Sturgeon, who says he saw and took a picture of the Hangman at a WWI-era airfield the businessman has been renovating in Blue Mound.

Some workers have just walked off, leaving behind tools and half-eaten lunches. "I'm having trouble getting anyone to work out there, even in the daytime," Sturgeon said.

Sturgeon said he would not have leased the old airfield buildings had he known about the rumors of secret tests done on deranged German POWs during WWI. "Nothing about the prisoners or experiments was ever disclosed to me," said Sturgeon.

Sturgeon is looking for brave souls willing to search the 19-acre, 20,000 square foot, 30-room haunted property for signs of the Hangman or the missing workers. The search will start at 7 pm and end at midnight on Friday, March 13 and Saturday, March 14.

"If you're pregnant, have a pacemaker, get woozy at the sight of blood or can't relate to the criminally insane, this search is too dangerous for you," said Sturgeon.
