PRLog - March 16, 2015 - SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. -- Camping is one of America’s oldest pastimes. There is something about being outdoors, far away from civilization and amenities that allows us to find an inner peace. Being one with nature on camping trips often means sleeping bags, tents, cooking over a campfire, lack of hygiene and a ruggedness that not everyone savors. But what if you could have camping without the hassle of camping? If you could have the same wild beauty and up close experience with nature, minus the yucky stuff, would you be interested? Of course you would!

Glamping is a modern concept that delivers the peace and quiet of spending time in the wilderness with elegant touches and amenities that make it more comfortable than traditional camping. Garland’s Oak Creek Lodge in Sedona Arizona is an ideal location for #Glamping. With sixteen cabins nestled on ten acres of land that is speckled with organic gardens and orchards, Garland’s Oak Creek Lodge delivers you a luxurious experience without the smoke and mirrors of your modern resorts.

On March 19, 2015 Garland’s Oak Creek Lodge will be hosting an exclusive blogger event to introduce #GlampingAtGarlands to a brand new audience. The guests have been hand selected: food writers, bloggers, Instagram users, and key influencers in the culinary world, will experience all that Garland’s has to offer in an overnight stay they will never forget. While there will be surprises along the way, guests will be treated to afternoon tea, wine tasting and a four course meal.

“Garland’s is a hidden gem that a lot of people don’t know about,” says social media coordinator Katie Selph. “We want our special guests to see Garland’s through fresh eyes and reflect the experience back through their own vision and chosen medium. Bringing together food and travel writers as well as photographers and Instagram users will capture Garland’s through different perspectives.”

This event is the first of its kind at Garland’s but they hope to continue hosting events that engage with people in new ways. These guests will find out what #GlampingAtGarlands truly means and will set a precedent for future exclusive events held at the Lodge.

Garland’s Oak Creek Lodge is an ideal spot for a #glamping getaway or a romantic weekend for two. Garland’s offers guests’ pure relaxation with optional spa packages like massages, facials and even yoga classes. There are plenty of outdoor activities in the surrounding area with local hiking trails, trout fishing in Oak Creek, a clay tennis court, nearby golf courses and much more. You can easily take an excursion for the day and visit local historical sites and monuments such as the Ghost Town of Jerome, Walnut Canyon National Monument, Grand Canyon National Park, Tuzigoot National Monument, the Petrified Forest, and Montezuma Castle. About Garland’s Oak Creek Lodge: The Lodge began as a homestead in 1908. The first log structure, now the kitchen, was made from Ponderosa pines felled on the hills above the property.  Life was tough in Oak Creek Canyon in the old days; there was no road through the canyon and supplies had to be packed in on horseback. The property changed hands several times and was purchased by Frank and Catherine Todd and their son, Bill in the late 20’s.  As cabins were constructed two by two, the Lodge became a treasured getaway for locals from Flagstaff, as well as the miners from Jerome.  Family-style meals were simple but delicious.  The dining room was added in ’43, verified by a buffalo nickel found under a cornerstone during the last remodel.  Bill and Georgiana Garland and their three children, Gary, Susan and Dan bough the Lodge in ’72.  The Garland family kept the spirit of the Lodge alive.  Under their ownership, more cabins were built and many of the older structures were remodeled.  The tradition of fine food also continued; superb meals feature organic fruits and vegetables grown on the premises.  In 2014, Ken McElroy and his partners, Alex Brigham, and Kim and Robert Kiyosaki bought the Lodge.  While under new ownership, Garland’s has retained its charm and rustic beauty, as well as their friendly and dedicated staff.
