By: PRLog
Customers using the Exemplar LIMS laboratory management solution will now be able to encrypt their data transparently and gain protection under the Safe Harbor provision of the HIPAA/HITECH Act as well as meet the CLIA compliance requirements.
PRLog - March 31, 2015 - NEW YORK -- Server General and Sapio Sciences announced a partnership agreement that will enable medical research labs that use the Exemplar LIMS laboratory management solution to encrypt their data using the newly launched Server-General Data Encryption service. Under the terms of the partnership, customers will be able to buy the data encryption subscription plan directly from Sapio Sciences. No programming is required to encrypt data or to control access to the sensitive data sets. The offering includes a lifetime key management service for free. Customers also have the option of storing their encryption keys on-premises in a secure appliance.

“Exemplar LIMS is being used by the leading clinical and research laboratories and hospitals around the world. Customers are often looking for an easy way to encrypt their LIMS data for compliance and security reasons. Now they can do so with ease with help of Server General,” said Kevin Cramer, CEO, Sapio Sciences.

“We’ve been using the Server General Data Encryption Service to secure our data for the last 6-7 months and we’ve found it to be the best in class for database encryption”, said Helmy Eltoukhy, CEO, Guardant Health, a company that provides the first and only comprehensive biopsy-free cancer test that identifies critical tumor genomic alterations in real-time.

“Scientists are not in the business of figuring out which encryption algorithm to use in order to protect their research data. Our data encryption service allows them to do just that without having to worry regulatory compliance issues”, said Raj Sharma, Founder of Server General Inc.

The key benefits of using SG-DES are:

Transparent encryption of the Exemplar LIMS data
Lifetime management of the encryption keys
Role-based access to sensitive information
Regulatory compliance

The service is available now starting at $49.99/repository per month (paid annually). The cloud key locker is free, whereas the on-premises key locker is $499.99/month.
