Artist from New Mexico Receives Once In a Lifetime Residency Opportunity

Greater London, UK – April 6, 2015 – Ouida Touchon has been offered an ‘artist residency’ in south London near the Thames River. The respected visual artist, painter, and printmaker launched a Kickstarter campaign to help gather funding to make this 11-week residency trip to London a reality. The goal is to raise $4,500 by May 25th, 2015.

During her stay, Ouida plans to capture the beauty of the city’s secret gardens on canvas as well as take painting sojourns into the English countryside. She will be painting en plein air with her easel and paints, both oil and watercolor.  Ouida will be there from June to mid-August and plans to develop this new body of work while she is there. She will also take an exclusive printmaking course at Edinburgh Printmakers in Edinburgh, Scotland to learn new techniques and expand her skills as a printmaker.  

Ouida will take what she learns back to New Mexico to teach her art theory and printmaking classes at Dona Ana Community College. As an art educator, she has been working with many first generation college attendees to teach them the value of art. This amazing opportunity to develop her skills, will help her become an even better teacher.

However, a trip like this can be expensive. This is why Ouida has turned to the crowd funding community to get support for the London residency project. All funds raised from the Kickstarter campaign will go towards her tuition at Edinburgh Printmakers, shipping cost of her equipment, and the secure shipping of art pieces to her Kickstarter supporters.

People who back her project will receive as a reward, their choice of Ouida’s collages, linocuts, watercolor paintings, and oil paintings that she’ll create during her residency in London.
